Hi, I’m John Schoneveld, the minister at Waiareka-Weston Presbyterian Church. I’m married to Jan, and we have two daughters, Johanna and Catriona. In my spare time I’m into photography, reading, movies, outdoor adventure and playing with Lego with my girls!
We’ve been at Weston since June 2016 and are loving this community, and especially our supportive, active church. Our own church background has helped us to be appreciative of a breadth of different Christian perspectives and traditions. Weston Church is a great match for us, as this church-family are a diverse bunch, united in the love of Jesus! You’ll notice that the sign outside the building says Weston Community Church, and that’s what we are, a Church for everyone, sharing God’s love in Christ. |
Hi, my name is Karo Wilson, and I coordinate our community-based children's ministry at Weston. I grew up in Weston, attending Weston Church and Youth Group during my teenage years. After a few years away from the area, I returned to Weston in 2009, helping to lead the youth group, before moving to Gore in 2015 to undertake the role of Youth Worker at Calvin Community Church. I have now returned to my roots, and am excited to be part of the ministry team here at Weston. I love developing meaningful relationships with young people and their families, and seeing our children encounter God in a personal way.
Alongside my work at Weston, I am also Associate Director for Presbyterian Children and Family Ministries, a national role that focuses on encouraging and equipping churches to be authentically intergenerational. In my spare time, I can be found relaxing in the sun with a good book or crossword puzzle, competing in quiz nights, and spending time with family and friends. |
My name is Sylvia Grasmueck, I am married with two grown up daughters. I have enjoyed working part-time at the Church Office in Weston since 2005. My role is to support the minister and other staff in administration of church matters. This is a varied job and being at the hub of activity at times, I love meeting people and assisting them in many ways. My 'other' job' is volunteering for the local Riding for the Disabled Group as a Coach and I also enjoy all sorts of outdoor activities!
