Seniors
Our monthly Seniors gatherings are called "Friday Friends" and have continued to be important to us as we acknowledge, value and appreciate our Seniors. It is also a good time to meet with the minister as this is an important part of Senior culture. An opportunity to pastorally visit with seniors, pray for and appreciate their needs. We have also kept those who attend informed of church change - Rev. John Schoneveld leads the group and likes to tell the seniors things before the rest of the church hears about it. This age group are faithful people who have been foundational in the forming of our church. Many of them have kept the church alive through hard times and given hours of physical labour to support and maintain the church.
We enjoy fellowship, friendship and lots of talk! We also enjoy a good morning tea provided by Margaret Jamison and Mavis Smith. How we appreciate their dedicated and willing service. Thank you sincerely both of you.
At Seniors we celebrate the changing aspects of our lives such as wedding anniversaries, gaining drivers licences again, new grandchildren and great grand children, birthdays, moving to smaller units etc. We also meet important people in Church life such as Youth Workers and our Community Ministries Worker. It gives Seniors a forum to understand change within the church and know how special and greatly valued they are in the life of the church.
